What is meant by GRE?

The GRE® General Test measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking and analytical writing skills that are not related to any specific field of study.

There are two versions of the GRE Exam, the first is the

* GRE Exam – General
* GRE Exam – Subject

The GRE Exam – General consists of three parts–

* GRE verbal
* GRE Math
* GRE Essay

Both the GRE verbal and GRE math test in GRE Exam each yield a score between 200-800 points. Scores on the GRE analytical writing test are measured on a scale of 0 to 6 and is awarded in � points. Since only some of the graduate programs require the scores of The GRE Exam – Subject, students availing such course need only appear for it.

The score on the GRE Subject test too ranges between 200 to 800 points. For details on the schools that need the GRE score and the minimum score that is required for admission can be found in the book, Graduate Study in Psychology,

GRE General Exam:

Verbal Reasoning — The skills measured include the test taker’s ability to:

* analyze and evaluate written material and synthesize information obtained from it
* analyze relationships among component parts of sentences
* recognize relationships between words and concepts

Quantitative Reasoning
— The skills measured include the test taker’s ability to:

* understand basic concepts of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and data analysis
* reason quantitatively
* solve problems in a quantitative setting

Analytical Writing
— The skills measured include the test taker’s ability to:

* articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively
* examine claims and accompanying evidence
* support ideas with relevant reasons and examples
* sustain a well-focused, coherent discussion
* control the elements of standard written English

GRE Registration – Online :

There are three option for Registration process:

1.GRE Registration – Phone
2.GRE Registration – FAX
3.GRE Registration – Mail/Courier

1.GRE Registration – Phone:The call should be made at least three days prior to the test date for GRE Registration.

2.GRE Registration – FAX:Fax at least seven days before the first test choice date for GRE Registration.

3.GRE Registration – Mail/Courier:For Mail/Courier GRE Registration The GRE Registration form should be manually filled, the draft (in case not paying through credit card) should be kept ready and submitted to Prometric Center at New Delhi through registered post / courier. The entire documents meant for GRE Registration should be sent at least three weeks before the test date chosen.

An appointment will be scheduled with the candidate at the Prometric Center, on receipt of document. The time, date and location of appointment will be intimated to the candidate. In case, the candidate does not receive the confirmation until three business days before the first choice of test date, the Sylvan office can be called to enquire about the appointment of your GRE Registration.
